thanksgiving

sterling's first thanksgiving! we decided to spend it will andrew's family in erda. we left rexburg wed night just before 6 pm. since my family was in centerville and we needed to pick up the portable crib, we stopped in to say hi. sterling was just starting to warm up to people when we decided to leave. we got to erda late. i tried to get sterling back to bed but that's not what he wanted. he finally did, but ended up in bed with us. garr came down with the flu and stayed in his room all day on thursday.

we had our big meal at about 2 pm. before we could eat, we went around the table and said what we were thankful for...but to the alphabet. we got some good laughs out of it. sterling sat at the table with us and wanted to pull the tablecloth off. he liked the potatoes, cream corn and his snacks (little puffs and yogurt melts). we also had rolls, turkey, gravy, cranberry sauce, stuffed jalapenos, jello (garr's fav) and stuffing. there was two apple and pumpkin pies. we just hung out before the meal and after. i took and nap. later that evening the boys were down playing gamecube and mandi was catching up on so you think you can dance. so nancy and i joined her. jay ended up going over to aubrey's and was suppose to be back by 8 so we could play games. he didn't show up until 9 and by then nobody was in the mood to play. so we continued to hang out and finally ended up going to bed.

friday. we got up and got ready for the day. then drove to highland to see andrew's grandpa, ray. it had been a while since andrew has seen him and he hadn't met sterling yet. we visited with him for about an hour and half. then we headed up to centerville to visit with my family some more. we stayed and ate dinner with them and headed back to erda when they left to go see the lights at temple square. andrew missed the exist for 80, which meant we were now lost because we don't know SLC at all. don't worry we made it there. it just took and little longer than expected.

saturday. andrew and jay worked on the jetta and then we went swimming at the pool in tooele. garrett loves to go swimming and it was the one thing that we for sure wanted to do. we enjoy it, so we thought that would be fun. garr was still sick so he stayed home. mandi and nancy ran errands and did shopping. so it was me, sterling, andrew, austin, garrett and jay finally showed up. it was so much colder than i expected and remembered from that last time we had gone there. sterling had a hard time keeping warm. i think we lasted about an hour before i got out. i got dressed and then got sterling dressed. we waited for the boys to finish diving so we could go home. that evening we played games. cranium, catch phrase and scum.

sunday. we went to church. it was the first time we have gone to church with them since their ward go split. they have to drive like 10 mins to get to their ward bldg now! before, it was just around the corner. it was also austin's birthday. he's now 19! so we had a special lunch that mandi made and then we packed up and headed home. of course since 215 is a little rough, we normally go 80 to 15. there was an accident on 15. in the worst spot too. right where there are two lanes with no shoulder. once again we didn't want to get off the freeway and get lost in SLC so we toughed it out. all 45 mins of it. we stopped by centerville to drop off the portacrib and for me to nurse sterling. we then climbed back into the truck and headed for rexburg. we ended up getting home pretty late. it was a nice break, but it was also nice to be home.
