christmas prep

the advent calendar below is from granet hill. it counts down from dec. 1st to dec. 25th. sterling learned that it can hold treats and often "asked" to be lifted up to see if that day did.

we tried to string popcorn. it looked good on the tree, but we didn't get very far. even if it was string faster than he could eat them. i soon gave up.

my friend jessica was coming home from her mission in NJ on dec 8th. so sterling and i went to go and visit with her. the night before we left we made a snowman. it was finally warm enough to pack the snow.

the bottom.

number one middle.
all done! just need a face etc. andrew had to get a ladder to get the top on there.

just before we drove off i ran out and took some pictures. you can see it continued to warm up over night. he is now leaning and had lost his face. andrew said he was on the ground when he got home from work. now more than a month later is just about the size of a snowball in the yard.

so sterling and i drove out to portland on dec. 9th and returned home on the 16th. we got to hang out with jessica and her family. i got to see lots of people, thanks to the ward christmas party. we got to see some family on saturday the 11th. then on tues the 14th we drove to sammamish to visit with my family. we were there like 36 hours. we drove home on the 16th and were only gone a week. i was glad to be home and was ready for a vacation with no kids. or at least one that andrew joined us on.

andrew cut the tree down while we were in oregon. so the night we got home we broke out the christmas tree decor and went to work. sterling liked the lights the best. we used the clear ones on the tree, but had some color ones that we let him play with. he would unplug the tree and plug in the color ones all day long.

that weekend, the 17th and 18th we made monster cookies. yes, i will put the recipe on here. we made one half batch and then had to make another one. we took them around to our friends and neighbors. andrew also took a lot into work.
