labor day weekend was here. 3 days to do everything that we have been putting off. we cleaned up, hung out and played. on labor day, we planned on taking the boat out on the lake. so we hurried to switch the dressers and put together the baby's crib. we got the kid's room all rearranged and then got ready for the lake. sunscreen, snacks, dinner, drinks, pjs, swim trunks etc. we drove to the lake and sterling fell alseep on the way. that was fine with us, though it would've been nice if he slept on the way home instead. part of the floating dock was turned so that you could only put in one boat at a time. this was annoying. you still might have been able to get two small boats on the launch, but it would've been tight. so we had to wait a little before we could launch the boat. this is normal and sterling was still asleep. so i sat with the boat tied to the dock while andrew parked in the overflow parking and brought sterling and our bag back to the dock.
we went over to a part of the lake that is called polson bay, i think. it was smoother water there and hardly anyone around. sterling was cranky for the first little bit and we thought for a little bit there that we would just have to go home. andrew was swimming and suggested that maybe he would like a snack. yep, teddy grahams made him happy. sterling also enjoyed being pulled in the tube with andrew. we also pulled andrew on the wake board.
we had dinner on the boat too. andrew decided to rest a little bit. all day i had been feeling very uncomfortable. i could tell that the little girl's head was quite low. but had things to do so i just kept going. we joked that maybe we should bring the hospital bag, but then that would mean that we would have to unlock the house and go get it. so we just headed to the lake.
we decided that it was time to go and so we headed back to the dock. i waited with the boat again while andrew and sterling went to get the truck and trailer. i had moments were i would be slightly more uncomfortable than before. since i had been induced with sterling, i didn't really know what contractions felt like. by the time andrew got the boat loaded i was pretty sure that i was having contractions. so we thought about just going home or since we were in polson and i had planned to deliver that the hospital there we could go up to the hospital and at least get checked.
we got to the hospital at about 7.20pm. i checked into the hospital and we walked up to the birthing center. by then, i was having contractions every two minutes. wonderful. we weren't going anywhere! i got changed and andrew took sterling out into the hall while they checked me-a full 10cm! i asked if i could still have an epidural and the nurse said that she didn't think i had time. my dr was out of town until tues so her partner was the one who was on call. dr. straub was just past the bridge when they called her. i was doing the best that i could. the contractions were really strong and i wanted to push. with each one i the urge to push was stonger. finally the nurse came over and yelled to the other nurse that we were about to deliever. my water hadn't even broken yet! they had to break it and then they did it there was some relief. (they said later that my membranes were really strong. they had to use a tool with a sharp point to break my water). once my water was broken, she was delivered. it was 7.54pm. i could do another natural, pain med free delivery if it is that fast again.
andrew and quincey marie. we didn't settle on the spelling until tues morning. we had to make sure and get one with andrew in his swimming trunks. proof that we were just at the lake not long before she was born. it would've been nice to have the hospital bag with us, as i had a change of clothes for andrew in there.
almost 24 hours old. we think that she looks a lot like sterling did when he was a newborn. my mom, who arrived tues evening, thought so too. she had to keep looking at the pink outfit to remind her that she wasn't looking at sterling.
we came home tues evening. here she is at home. the next morning when sterling got up, he spent the first 30 mins that he was awake standing at her crib. looking at her and touching her. he climbed on her crib and so i had to go get his stool so that he could have something safer to stand on.
sterling likes to hold quincey.
andrew holding quincey after work on wed. you can tell that it was a long day for him too. andrew took tuesday off from work.
i went downstairs to get my mom up on friday morning. i left quincey on the floor and then i came back upstairs, sterling had wrapped himself in the red blanket and was laying next to her.

Congrats Nicole! I'm glad labor was so fast for you- although I'm sure it would have been nicer for it to be a little slower so you could have your bag. And I love her name! So cute!
