5 years old

Ok, really I have no excuse as to why this post has not been done...but I do have a few. I haven't looked at the pictures from starlings birthday, both sides of the family have heard about it...

Sterling turned 5 on jan 16th. It was a thurs this year, we had playgroup over that day. We had just joined them last week and we wanted to meet some where other than McDonald's in Ronan. So it was like having a kid party but without having to prepare anything for entertainment. playgroup went well. we had lots of kids over and they didn't stay too long. the kids played downstairs while the moms visited upstairs with the babies.

We made two batchs of cupcakes. he wanted white cake with white frosting, I went the easy way and used cake mixes. One was for his classmates and the other was for playgroup. he helped make some of the cupcakes and then he put the sprinkles on. red, of course since that's his favorite color at the moment. for dinner we have hot dogs and roasted broccoli. andrew couldn't believe that's what i made, but sterling didn't give me any ideas so he got what we had in the fridge.

this was a family party year and we decided to go to fairmont hot springs. our boat was stolen earlier that week so we didn't have our lifejackets for the kids. thankfully we have friends who let us borrow some. we bought a float device for carlee. we had used one last time with quincey (someone there let us borrow it for a bit) and it was really nice.

andrew worked a half day and then we went down to enjoy the hot water and relax. we put quincey in the backseat so that she could watch movies with sterling. they loved watching movies and they liked being able to sit by each other. once we found some headphones that worked well, the kids could listen to their movies and we could listen to our cd's. andrew drove the whole time, which i love him for.

we stayed one night, but i think it's kind of like camping, where you need to stay at least two nights. the first night, the kids are excited and don't want to go to sleep. by the time the second night rolls around they are tired enough that everyone gets a good rest. sterling and quincey did not want to go to bed. and once we got them asleep carlee woke up. really there was no winning. finally everyone go some sleep.

we got up and ate, packed and then swam until about 3pm. we also had passes to the slide, which was always fun to go down. sterling could go down by himself and quincey could ride with someone. i think they both had a great time. though the next time we go we need to bring a friend so that he has someone to play with all the time. he did find some kids to play with, but then they have to leave…and he stays.
