no really it is not! last year we had an accident and then we have two this year. the biggest one being sterling's broken leg.
it was the 4th of july. andrew and garr were out working on the fences. nancy was here at the house and i was mowing the lawn since it needed to be done and i didn't really have anything else to do. after a few years of mowing our large lawn there are a few things that i just won't do and mowing under the little apple tree is one of them. i was mowing in between the two apple trees when i backed up and i looked back, there was sterling laying on the grass! WHAT?! talk about scary! he is very lucky to have only broken and burned his leg.
i brought him into the house and got him an ice pack. i got nancy to see what her opinion was. she didn't think he needed to go. so i let him watch a show and i finished mowing. we went to the cates' that night for a party. he still wouldn't put any weight on his leg, but he wasn't complaining about pain. he even went swimming! since he wouldn't put any weight on it, i took him in as soon as we were up and ready sat morning. they splinted it and we came back monday for a hard cast:
because of his burn they have to cut a window in his cast. he was suppose to start swimming lessons on the 14th, but with the cast he couldn't do that. i have him signed up for the last session, but i don't know if he will be out of a cast by then.
sterling is showing off his 2nd cast. he is on this 3rd cast now because they keep breaking. the first one had holes in the knee and heel. the 2nd cracked perpendicular to the window in his cast.
on july 7th andrew got hit by a spring while at work and got 9 stitches. the one on the side you can't see, but the one on his chin you can see. so he rubs it to break up the scar tissue and i think he has been putting mederma on it.
but on a positive note, i got my new camera! i love it! the last two pictures of this post were taken with it. hardly a blurry picture taken and i got a few good action ones during good ol' days that i know i would have missed with our old one.
