visit from portland

my grandparents from portland came to visit us last week. they left last saturday. (gosh, has it been a week almost a week! wow, i've been slacking on the blog front. sorry) they got here on monday the 10th, just in time for dinner. so we ate then gave them the tour of the property. well, what's just around the house. the fields aren't all that exciting. then after sterling was in bed we played uno. grandpa and andrew won the most.

monday night, grandpa read to sterling. he was doing fine until i took the last picture. then he wanted me to sit with him. they almost got through "time for bed". i have a video, but since i switched to the new format i haven't tried to upload one. i will try it for a different post.

this is what they did in their down time. gail, finished up a book, started two and finished them both and started another while she was here.

on tues, grandpa went around and looked at the jobs that we wanted him to do and one he wanted to do. we wanted him to put an outlet in the master bath (that never had one!) and put a new outlet in the main bath. he wanted to put a switch at the bottom of the stairs for the light in the stairs and the main room down there. so we went to missoula to do some shopping. we went to gymboree, home depot, lowes and the carousel. grandpa got the brass ring, so he got another token. sterling and i went on it twice. though, after once, i was reminded why i only went one time last time. it goes really fast. it was a long day for all.

wed, grandpa woke up not feeling very well. he got what gail had, they thought. she thought it was just allergies, but we don't know that for sure. so we spend the day at home. grandpa took it easy and worked a little and rested. that evening we went with andrew to see if the mission church was open, but it was already locked up. so we went home and different way and stopped by the mission dam. grandpa went to bed early.

thurs was another day at home. i don't think that we did much this day. grandpa worked. oh we went to the park in polson, you know the one you have to drive through the golf course to get to. we went in the afternoon, after sterling's nap. sterling enjoyed down the slide and playing in the water. we were only there for about an hour.

fri was another day spent mostly at home. they were planning to leave sometime on sat. so grandpa had a lot of work that needed to be done. he did end up going to the hardware store twice.

sat they left about 1pm. later than they wanted to, but grandpa had to finish his work. he didn't completely finish, andrew needs to patch some holes.
