preschool- 2 week check

today sterling has been in preschool 2 weeks. which also means that we are two weeks in to feb and i have 10 day to get back to the IRS, but that is another story for another time.

when sterling turned 3 the CDC (child development center) stopped financing his speech therapy. he is now considered school age and so he gets his help for speech through the school district. but also since he is three, that means that he could start preschool. i didn't think that he would start it when he turned three, since it would have been half way through the school year. the school district gave me two options for school: early head start here in saint ignatius or co-teach in missoula. co-teach at is UofM, which would've been great for him, but that meant either putting him on a bus for and hour each way or driving him myself. if i drove him, what would i do for those hours he was in school and then i would have to worry about the roads and snow. so we decided to go with head start.

to get into head start you need to make less than a certain about of money. i knew that we made over that amount (i don't know how much it is), but if they had room for him that would be awesome! so we applied, yes we "over qualify", but since he is considered "special ed" he would be able to attend. sterling's speech delay is classified under the umbrella of special education. once he starts kindergarten it will clarified more.

anyway, he has been to early head start (early head start because he was still 2 when i school year started) for two full weeks now. he seems to be enjoying it. he goes monday thru thursday 8.30am to 2.30pm. for the first week, i took him in, but this past week andrew has been taking him in. then i pick him up. he still is a little upset when he gets dropped off and sometimes he wants to come home with me and other times he doesn't. sterling still gets speech therapy. it's once a week. she comes to the school. there is another little boy that she see as well.

I'm glad he enjoys school for the most part. Hopefully he gets used to it soon and won't feel the need to go home with you when you drop him off. Also, it sounded like your Valentines was fun! Love the photo Andrew did.
