our flight out of seattle was just before 9. we had to be there about 7! we didn't check any bags because i didn't want to pay that ridiculous price and it would be a little faster. most of the 6 hour flight we visited, i read my book and slept. we flew on hawaiian and they fed us about half way through, which was super nice! we got to honolulu about 12pm. i sat by the window so i could take some pictures as we were arriving. we waited for the shuttle to the rental car place forever. seriously. if we knew how close it was, we would have waited or taken another companies bus. we missed the first one because andrew didn't want to jay walk. the rest were all full. finally we got one and we were glad to be on our way.
every thing was very lush. if it was brown, it was probably dying. even their mountains were green at the top!
the beach which was right in front of our housing units. we spent our 1st in a two bedroom and then the rest of time we stayed in a studio.
we were about to leave for dinner and a hike when ashlan and jon came back with 2 of their friends. we ended up eating some of their food. it was from papa oles. everything that comes as a "plate" dish comes with rice and macaroni salad. it was really good. garlic chicken and a hamburger patty with gravy and of course rice and salad. we were visiting with them and andrew still wanted to do that hike.
hauula loop. we walked to the trailhead because there was no parking area and it was just down the road. we looked up what time the sunset was, just before 7! we had to hurry. it was a good hike, though i wish some of the vegetation wasn't so tall. they had gotten a lot of rain before we arrived so it was pretty muddy. i went in my flip flops which results you see in a bit but i'm glad i didn't go in my shoes either. i would've had mud all over them. feet are easier to wash.

andrew leading the way.
my muddy feet.
it took us just over 2 hours to do the hike and i'm glad it wasn't any longer. it was completely dark by the time we got home. we did see 2 wild pigs we were leaving the trailhead! we stopped by the beach on the way home (it was just across the highway) to wash my feet and sandals. we checked in with ashlan so that she wouldn't worry. they then were going to get into the hot tub. it was way too hot but after the hike it sounded pretty good. so we sat at visited for awhile. once we couldn't take the heat anymore we went to bed.
