hawaii day 2 Laie and Polynesian Cultural Center

the view from our 1st house.

we woke up about 4am, we laid in bed for a bit and then got up and decided to see the sunrise down on the beach.

this part of the beach is just north of our location. we just walked along the beach until it got really really rocky. the whole beach was pretty rocky.

you gotta put your feet in the ocean everyday! it was a little cold this morning but not too bad. we went back and ate breakfast with ashlan and jon. we got packed up a bit then we went for a walk to the Hauula beach park. we went for a morning swim and walk along the beach. andrew broke open 3 coconuts, using a rock. one was rotten. we took the two good ones back with us. andrew later cracked them open and ate some of the meat inside.

with all that rain washing everything down to the ocean and then the ocean brings it back to the beach. so they come and clean up the mess. packed up the rest of the our stuff and stored it in ashlan's house since the owners weren't in the office yet and we wanted to get on with our day.

we spent the day in Laie. out 1st stop was the temple.  walking up to the temple there was a spot on the sidewalk that had water over. dirty water.  i didn't think about it and walked right through. i mean how many times have i walked through water in flip flops….nope. went right down on my back. glad i didn't have my camera on me (it was in the bag) but upset that we were suppose to be gone all day and this happened! i'm sure andrew wanted to continue on with our day but i made him take me home after the temple so i could change.

we walked around the back of the temple and then headed home.

it was starting to sprinkle heavily as we were leaving and not wanting to fall again i walked back to the car barefoot. as i said, we headed back to huuala and then back to laie. thankfully that didn't take very long. we had lunch at seven brothers. the pictures i had seen from my family always showed it brimming with people. since we went for lunch it wasn't all that busy, which we liked a lot.

andrew had the poniolo "cowboy" burger (grilled pineapple, bacon, cheese, bbq sauce and onion rings-the thick ones), i had the shem burger (guacamole, bacon and cheese) and we shared some crazy fries (seasoning, cheddar cheese, onions and garlic house sauce). this was our favorite place to eat.

stuffed to the gills, we headed to PCC. it was pouring rain when we arrived and stopped about 45 mins after we arrived.

we ducted out of the rain to watch the Samoa presentation. it was well and very entertaining. the little jokes he incorporated were cheesy but still funny.

he broke open a coconut and was making a man drink it. all of it.

we then went from island to island to learn about their cultures. i think we only missed 2, hawaii and new zealand. we had a good time watching the presentations. we also enjoyed the tongan presentation. they called up 4 men (i tried to get andrew to volunteer) and had them repeat what the presenter was doing. it was very entertaining. it would've been even better if andrew had done it, in my opinion.

we ate dinner there and then attended there show, the breath of life. they went through every island over the course of a mans life showing their dance skills. it was great to watch. we spent pretty much all day there. i think this was the only night we stayed out really late.

when we got home about 9. 30, we couldn't get into our house! the door hadn't recoded! we had no good number to contact the owner either. thankfully andrew left a message and he called me back. they recoded the door the next day. it was not how we wanted to end the evening but thankfully we didn't have to squeeze in with ashlan and jon. especially since they already had 3 other people staying with them!
