summer vacation: clarkston

andrew took 4 days off from work to join us on our trip to the oregon coast for the hainsworth family reunion. i'm glad that he came. he did most of the driving and didn't mind it too much. we left on july 3rd and we stopped in clarkston, wa to see my grandma betty and other family that live in the area.

here is grandma with her eldest daughter, sharon. we saw almost everyone in the area. some were out of town and others we could just not get a hold of them. on the 4th of july we went to church and grandma betty came with us. she said that one she liked was that we don't get up out of our seat a lot. she said that they people were friendly. we only stayed for sacrament mtg. then we went to lunch at waffles and more with sharon. they had good food and service, but the booth was tight with the four us and then sterling on the end. he was not a happy little boy. he ended up sleeping on the way home.

we visited my biological mother's grave. thankfully she is buried close to the road and so we could leave sterling asleep in the car. i hadn't seen her grave in a while, but i also needed to stop by because my dad would like to be buried there. he wanted to know if their was space around or by her. i gave him the information he need to make such plans. now, if we can just get him to have a will.....

that evening we went to a park to listen to the concert. i wasn't surprised that it was more of a symphony than a band. we still enjoy ourselves and the senior citizens found sterling funny.

there was a playground there so we spend some of our time there. sterling going down the slide.

dad and sterling went down the slide. i'm not sure what's going on with sterling's face in this picture.

we picked up some fireworks before we left the rez. here is sterling, his dad and a huge sparkler. when it was dark we went to the middle school to watch more fireworks there. it was just people setting off their own. so we were alittle disspointed, but that's ok. sterling would see some fireworks and start to walk towards it, then someone would light some behind him, so he would walk towards those. we had to keep running after him.
we left on monday the 5th for portland.
