summer vacation: oregon coast and hainsworth reunion

sorry for the lack of pictures. our camera started to have a lens problem, so this is all we have. my parents have more, but the likelyhood that i will see those anytime soon is not very good. i will look at my mom's blog again and see if i can steal some of her's.

so on wed the 7th we left grandpa and gail's house and wandered the streets of portland to get to the church on 30th and harrison. there we started the family history tour. we saw a few houses my grandpa hainsworth lived in, the schools he went to and the first house that my dad ever lived in.

i should mention that my parents were in charge of this reunion.

from there we went to:

(thank you internet) yes, that's right we went to the Tillamook Cheese Factory in tillamook oregon. we went there on our honeymoon. we made it a quick trip, i mean really we were just there for the ice cream. they were really busy. of course when are they not? i got chocolate peanut butter and andrew got sticky buns ice cream. then we headed to lincoln city. that evening we had games on the beach, bonfire and lots of visiting.

thursday the 8th

we went on a whale watching cruise in depoe bay. well, everyone went but sterling and i. we looked for a beach to go play at. after trying to do something for an hour, i'm glad that my mom wasn't watching him and wished that i had stayed in lincoln city and just met up with everyone for lunch. anyway. they had a good time, but no whales.

here is a picture that andrew took of the shore line from the boat. it was foggy every day. which was nice because it was HOT in portland.

the sea lions that they saw instead of the whales. i don't blame them for getting out of the water. it's numbing cold!

after that we drove to otter rock for lunch at Mo's Chowder House. andrew had a shrimp salad sandwich, i think and i had the world famous chowder. i wasn't really impressed. right at the end of the road where the restaurant was is devils punchbowl.

there is punchbowl and the ocean behind andrew and sterling. at this point, sterling needed a nap. so andrew contined on to yaquina bay to see the lighthouse there. after that he came home with some more family and then the rest of the family came home in time for dinner. there was a talent show that night and we did a boy scout skit. we spit into a pot and then the person holding the pot hits the pot with there thumb. sterling did it too. but we just told him to spit into the pot and he did it. i think that was the best part. there was another bonfire.

on friday the 9th we had games on the beach and then we went to a park on a lake for lunch. it had a playground and a swimming area. just as we were sitting down for lunch, sterling was getting fussy. so i hurried and ate and then we went for a drive. he fell asleep and we both took a nap in the car. we did the candy cannon. then we went back to the beach for tide pools. my mom drove and bunch of people in the van. including her only grandchild without his carseat! i was very surprised about this. sure it was down the street, but still! then we had dinner and after that more sharing. grandma and grandpa told about their trip to Israel and the siblings shared what they learned from their parents that they still use today. what kind of ancestor are you going to be???

saturday the 10th we ate breakfast we got ready and finished packing up out car. we left at about 9.30am and we drove all the way home. we drove through the tricities and spokane. we got in at about 10.30pm. so it was a 12 hour drive and andrew drove every mile. i'm glad that he did.

sterling did pretty well for being in the car so much. it was hard on the was home, but we made it and i don't think we really want to do that again.
here is everyone that came to the reunion. we were missing 10 people. (i think that's right)
