we got into portland in the afternoon of the 5th. grandpa and gail were still working so, we walked to the park that is just a few blocks away. we stayed there for a while and sterling had a fun time. there was a slide, a girl his age, dogs to follow and a merry go round. we stayed there until just before dinner. we met my biological dad on the way back.
on tues the 6th we went to the zoo with my dad. sterling has never been to a zoo and i thought it was a good way to kill a lot of time. i also had not been the oregon zoo in a long long time. they changed the enterance a lot.
this was actually taken as we were leaving. i'm glad that sterling was willing to hold still for it.
we couldn't bring the stroller with us because it was too big so we rented one from the zoo. it was $26, but you get $20 back. sterling really liked that it had a steerling wheel. of course he wasn't the only one. random kids would keep coming up to it to give it a spin. i only had to step in once. i can't remember that sterling was doing, but i think he was mad.
here we're checking out the elephants. even they thought it was hot.
checking out the zerbas.
i think we were already to leave at this point. we were all worn out. this was taken at the mountin goats, which is the 1st animal that we see when you walk in. we all went home and took a nap. we woke up and visited with grandpa and gail for a while then we meet up with a friend of mine. ashlan, oana, teka and i have been friends since middle school. we went to burgerville for dinner and then drove to a park not far from her house to eat, talk and let sterling play. the guy gave us someone elses dinner so andrew ended up eating two burgars.
we all got their fresh strawberry shake, though i was hoping that it was going to be something different than strawberry. that's ok. sterling really enjoyed getting his part.
can you see the whole ring of the cup in his face? the slide that is in the background...sterling liked to climb up the stairs himself and then slide down. sometimes we would go up with him, other times we would just stand there and watch.
