3rd birthday: part 1- the family activity

for sterling's birthday we decided to go to fairmont hot springs. andrew only worked a half day on friday (the 13th) and we left about an hour and half after he got home. that morning i packed our overnight bag, cleaned up the house and thought about what we were going to do for food. we stopped at costco on the way down and got some muffins for breakfast, chicken bakes for dinner and bread for lunch. for lunch on saturday, we brought peanut butter and nutella and i made sandwiches. it seemed like everytime i turned on nickelodeon, if it wasn't an "adult show" (like that 70's show) it was spongebob.  oh wait, there was the kung fu panda show...

all of these pictures are from saturday.

here is sterling watching spongebob. we even packed his cars pillowcase and he still had a hard time going to bed. he didn't get to sleep until about 10.30. i think staying in a hotel with kids is like camping. you have to stay two nights. so that on the second night you can get the rest that you missed out on during the first night.

andrew and quincey. that is not our toy. i tried to find some when i was in missoula last week, but i couldn't find any pool toys. we just held quincey most of the time, but the person who let sterling play with the cars tube also let us use this one for quincey.

i know that above is a picture that my mom would delete, but i kept it because of the story behind it. we got a half day slide pass for andrew. since sterling was still 2 we didn't have to buy him one. so on one of the trips to the slide, sterling saw a boy with cars shorts. he went over the boy, bend down to look at his shorts. andrew said it looked like sterling was trying to look up the boys shorts. we saw several boys with such shorts.

because sterling is about 3 feet tall, he was able to walk around the shallow end by himself. once it started to get out towards 3 feet, he would realize that it was out too far and come back. we kept close to him anyway, since you never know if they are going to trip, get run over by someone etc. it was nice that he could touch and we didn't have to hold him the whole time.

no one wants to look at mom.

i'm holding quincey up a little. the tube sterling is in is the cars tube i was talking about earlier. you can't tell because it's flipped over.

quincey is wearing the same swimsuit that both of my brothers and sterling wore.

just hanging out in the pool. quincey is sucking her thumb.

all worn out! she was getting cranky and she didn't want to eat and it was about time for her nap. the problem was that as soon as you start to dry off, it becomes almost unbearably hot in by the pool and the locker rooms. sure i could've left, but i was still in my swimsuit. so i just dried her off. changed her from a swim diaper to a normal diaper. wrapped her and let her suck on her thumb. she went right to sleep.

we left about 2.30 in the afternoon. both kids fell asleep on the way home. we enjoyed ourselves and had a good time.

So cute! I could have sent down the cutest swim suit, the one that will be too small in the summer. That's a huge pool! Or is that the hot springs? I was thinking they were outdoors. Quincey seemed to like the water.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO STERLING! I am happy you were able to go to Fairmont. That was my favorite place growing up. :) xoxo
