on july 15th we got a new bishop........
that evening:
andrew noticed that alan was over as we were getting home from a birthday party. i didn't think much of it. i figured he was over to visit with andrew's parents. we pulled in and were walking to the house when alan comes walking out of the house...this is when i get tense. oh no! it's bishop! he had actually come to talk with ME. yes. me. no no no no no i like my callings! even if i wasn't all that excited about being a sub teacher for relief society. i don't want to change...
well, he asked me to be the new relief society president! yes, you read that right. (his wife is our current one and with him and bishop, that means she gets released) i thought it was a joke. i had to look to see if my in laws where looking out the window, watching. no, they weren't. it wasn't a joke. but oh how i wish it was. i can't even begin to describe the feelings that i have had since that afternoon. thankfully i had family in town so i was pretty distracted but when i was alone to think about it and who to call as my counselors, i was always overcome with the spirit and with the size of the calling.
so on july 21st, when andrew's high school had their 10 year reunion dinner at the mikkleson's i took a few moments to visit with alan about my counselors. he felt good about who i had picked. now i was being to feel better about being the RS president. my counselors got asked to accept their new callings the next day. i was then officially called on july 29th. two weeks after alan got called as bishop.
i am still getting used to it.

You will do such a great job!! Just remember that you were called by the Lord, not the bishop- the calling just came THROUGH the bishop. You'll do great!
Fun, fun! And busy! You will do a great job. Just follow the spirit, get to know the sisters and read the handbook over and over. Good luck!! :)
