the fourth of july

ok, i know i said short post, but for a holiday i can make an exception. 

i these nails on a website a few days before the fourth. so one day when quincey was taking an extra long nap i went for it. while they are not as good as what i saw online...they are pretty good for something i did myself, with children at home. 

the third: 

we blew up our fireworks from last year. that wasn't enough for sterling, so we had to go and buy some more. quincey really wanted sterling's huge sparkler. 

i think sterling enjoyed the fireworks a lot this year. i'm sure it will only grow with each year. it was hard to get him to wait until it was dark so we did all of our fireworks while it was still light out. 

the great thing about summers in montana is that it stays light out forever. there are a few cons to this, of course. the 4th of july is one of them. the above picture was taken at 8.45pm.....we have to wait until about 10pm before it's dark enough for fireworks.

the fourth:

andrew washed the cars. he had the day off and it was hot. 

sterling helped andrew, but mostly did water control. once he got tired of andrew taking the hose from him, he went and played in his sand box. it looks like quincey and sterling are holding hands, but they aren't. 

quincey practiced her standing.  you can see kitty in the background. he is pretty good about having quincey pull his fur. the problem is that he sheds horribly. so we don't like to have him rub up against us. i do brush him sometimes and after a few strokes i have to clean the brush out. 

i made our best bites 4th layered cupcakes for our ward bbq. out of the batch and half that i made, we only had about 6 left. i sent them in to work with andrew on the 5th. 

quincey's outfit to the party. i made her hair clip on the 3rd. 

sterling's outfit. one of our fireworks had a parachute in it. andrew found it in the yard and then sterling hooked it up to mater. just like in cars 2. he seems to be pretty proud of himself! 

i included this picture because it was my 1st attempt at mater's 'chute and i like it....except all that sun coming in the window. this was taken at 9.15pm on the fourth. sterling stayed up (past 10pm) for fireworks and loved it. quincey went to bed.
